Robotics Camps

To encourage full learning development of every student, Brainy Learning Club offers additional “outside the classroom” workshops and specialty camps such as LEGO Robotics Camp and Chess Camp.

These camps are held during the summer and/or winter breaks, which keeps young minds actively engaged while not in school.

LEGO® Robotics Camp (ages 9+):

Campers are introduced to the concepts of computer science by programming their own LEGO® Mindstorms EV3 robots using a visual programming language (LabVIEW). Through the use of education modules, students learn the principles of computer science and how to utilize them for a specific purpose.

Students then apply what they’ve learned by programming their Lego robot to successfully solve creative challenges. Through this hands-on, informative, and fun approach students use problem-solving skills as well as stimulate their curiosity and innovation.

LEGO® Robotics Camp Overview:

As an introduction to programming, students will learn basic program structure using LabVIEW visual programming language to control their LEGO® Mindstorms EV3 robot.  Starting with LabVIEW allows students to begin programming without having to first master code syntax. Students focus on programming logic structures such as loops, switch cases, compare and contrast constructions, if/else statements, conditionals, feedback loops, nesting, and integrative programming. Through the programming challenges, they will learn and improve many skills, such as critical and creative thinking, problem-solving, determination and perseverance, and the importance of teamwork.
