The State of Texas Assessments of Academic Readiness, or STAAR, is the state testing program implemented in the 2011–2012 school year. Texas STAAR test results provide data helping parents, teachers, and students improve academic performance in reading/language arts, math, writing, science, and social studies.

Students in grades 3-8 are tested in mathematics and reading. A writing portion is included in grades 4 and 7, science in grades 5 and 8, and social studies in grade 8. Students are tested at the high school level with STAAR end-of-course assessments for Algebra I, English I, English II, Biology, and U.S. history.

Brainy Learning Club has developed a 3-step approach to helping students master the STAAR test:

  • Completing practice STAAR tests released from TEKS to determine areas of strength and weakness
  • Tutor-guided review of practice test with detailed test preparation timeline and strategy, focusing on areas needing improvement
  • Tutor-supervised practice to strengthen the understanding of test concepts

By following this approach, your student will become familiar with the STAAR test structure, and our tutors will identify areas needing improvement.
